Recently, I spent several weeks working on a very special project for the Harvest Center. I was both honored and humbled to be asked to paint a mural in the reception area of the Harvest Center’s new location.
The Harvest Center works to transform lives. Their mission is: “To create a community where individuals affected by homelessness, poverty or unemployment are empowered through our transitional programs and transformed by the love and ministry of Jesus Christ.”
This plain gray wall was transformed with paint
The new building has been transformed by a major renovation.
The renovation was made possible by the transforming gifts of generous donors.
The building itself was made available by the transforming work of a mortgage company that seeks to re-invest in communities.
At that heart of all of this work….the meals served by the Harvest Center….
the volunteers who give their time to the Harvest Center…..
the work of those served by the Harvest Center doing all they can to get their lives back on track….
the gifts of those who have contributed financially to make this move happen….
the work of getting a 16×16 inch painting up on a 14 foot wall….
at the heart of all of this work is the transforming work of Jesus Christ.
And isn’t that also the heart of Christmas….the transforming work of Jesus Christ, given to us as a gift from God.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
