Several years ago, I was curious how my figures would look against a black background of paint. At about that same time, we spent July 4th with cousins at their DeBordieu, SC beach house. Morning festivities included a golf cart parade with lots and lots of water guns, followed by hours on the beach. Evening festivities included family, friends, food, and fireworks.
For younger ones, July 4th would not be complete without sparklers. Seeing those sparklers, I knew what I would paint on a black background. The above painting was done a few years ago. The tallest boys are my P and my W. The other four from left to right are their cousins, C, R, SL, and W. I love how the figures look against the black. The children in all their red, white, and blue just “pop” against the night. I have always loved this American holiday and all it stands for. And I loved capturing the fun of July 4th in this painting.
Hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!!! ( Take lots of pictures – you never know what might make a wonderful painting – more on that next week. )
May your holiday be filled with family, friends, food, and fireworks!!!
