Lately, I’ve been busy with lots of paintings, lots of family fun, lots of sports for the kiddos, and lots of life. All of it is wonderful, but I am very much looking forward to a weekend escape. I will be on the coast of South Carolina, and I can’t wait to see the water. Something about oceans, waterways, lakes, and rivers makes all the hustle and bustle of life fade into the background.
The painting above was recently completed. It is a view of the water. I tend to gravitate towards seascapes and water references in paintings. (Maybe it’s my Florida blood.) I have completed several marshes in the past, but this time I wanted to play with that first glimpse you get of the sparkling blue when headed towards the water.
I also played around with brush strokes and extra layers of paint for this painting. I ended up using a palette knife to complete the work, and I am thrilled with how much paint you can layer and build up using a knife.
The picture below shows the detail of the layered paints.
I am already looking forward to the next canvas I use a knife on….stay tuned for more water views.
And let me know if you need this little glimpse of the water for your own home….or maybe as a gift for someone you know. The framed painting measures just over 17 x 17. It is priced at $350 and will be available at the Show on Hampton Ave November 14th and 15th.
Details and invite to the show will be posted next week. Hope to see you there.
