Original acrylic paintings full of bright colors, clean shapes, and much joy.

Bright colors make me smile. There is something about a big orange sunrise, a vast blue ocean, a deep green leaf, or an intense pink peony that fills me with warmth. I try to use the brilliance of color in my paintings to create a visual happiness.

I hope you will enjoy viewing some of these colorful paintings. Check back from time to time to see what's new, feel free to share with friends, or subscribe in the sidebar below to receive occasional updates by email. Paintings are added several times a month. Anything added is sure to be filled with bright colors and much joy! Thanks - LPT

“Two Minnows”

In the Fall of 2010, I was working on a few paintings as practice.  My son, W, noticed I was using a picture from our last beach trip as inspiration.  The photograph was of W and his friend Z.

At the time of the painting, Z’s father was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor/cancer.  W asked me if we could give the painting to Z when it was finished.  This of course melted my heart.  And we of course gave Z the  painting.  Later Z told me it was his “most awesomest gift.”  But actually, I was the one to receive the gift.  To see his face light up with that smile during such a difficult time was wonderful.  Z’s painting became the first of many “gift” paintings I do.  It is incredibly rewarding to create a painting for someone who needs a bright spot in their day.

Here is Z’s gift:

brooke - love this story, lauren. what a gift your talent is – but more importantly what a gift you are. love that you are passing your generous spirit on to your boys.

“Joyful Noise”

This painting was completed as a commission for Christmas.  Two sisters and a sister-in-law wanted to capture the love of an entire family for a set of parents. I can’t help but imagine all the wonderful laughter, special memories, and joyful noise this family makes when all together.

Tangerine Tango

The Pantone 2012 Color of the Year is Tangerine Tango.  Orange has always been a favorite color of mine.  Glad to know the color experts at Pantone like it too.

Such a bright, happy, and cheerful color!  My bathroom has been this color for years.  Below is a painting I did for the space about 5 years ago.  This color makes it easy to start the day with a smile.
