Original acrylic paintings full of bright colors, clean shapes, and much joy.

Bright colors make me smile. There is something about a big orange sunrise, a vast blue ocean, a deep green leaf, or an intense pink peony that fills me with warmth. I try to use the brilliance of color in my paintings to create a visual happiness.

I hope you will enjoy viewing some of these colorful paintings. Check back from time to time to see what's new, feel free to share with friends, or subscribe in the sidebar below to receive occasional updates by email. Paintings are added several times a month. Anything added is sure to be filled with bright colors and much joy! Thanks - LPT

Long story short…..

A few quick details on the pop-up art sale….

"Circles of Life" 4; 6x6 $75

Thursday, October 6th

10am – 6pm Paper Twist

Located in the Colony Shops…2902 Selwyn Avenue

100% of my art sales will benefit Pinewood Elementary

"Circles of Life" 8; 4x6 $55

Pinewood Elementary, a Title 1 school, is located in the Madison Park neighborhood of Charlotte.  It’s right next door to South Park, Myers Park, Park Road Shops and all the happenings on Montford Drive.

As with many schools, they have various needs that are not always met.  For example, they don’t always have supplies for their nurse….Bandaids, Kleenex, Advil, Tylenol, etc.  They need supplies. I have art.  Why not use an art sale to help out with this need?

So come on by Paper Twist.  Buy a piece of art for yourself, for a friend, get a jump on Christmas gifts.  How wonderful would it be to sell all these paintings and stock this sweet school full of nurse supplies for the entire school year?  Hope you can join me in helping Pinewood.

Don’t need any art, but want to lend a hand?  Waypoint Community Church is having a worship and service morning at Pinewood Elementary on Sunday, September 25th at 10am.  They will be organizing “care packages” for the teachers, assembling bookcases for classrooms, and taking care of some light landscape work.  More details can be found here.

You’ve heard the song by The Byrds “Turn! Turn! Turn!”

 “For everything…Turn, Turn,Turn

there is a season…Turn, Turn, Turn

a time for every purpose under heaven…

A time to be born, a time to die…

A time to plant, a time to reap…

A time to kill, a time to heal…

A time to laugh, a time to weep….”

Well, the lyrics are straight from the Bible…Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Back in the Spring, I heard a sermon series on Ecclesiastes.  Personally, it happened to be a time of renovating, a time of moving, a time of unpacking.  It hit me as I heard this sermon, that in our new home I would have fewer walls to hang art and a smaller studio space to hang and hold on to paintings.  Maybe it was a time to part with some favorite pieces.

That same Sunday morning, I also learned that Waypoint was beginning to form a relationship with their “neighborhood” school.  Waypoint Community Church meets for Sunday worship at the Queens University Sports Complex on Tyvola.  (Right next to the Madison Park neighborhood)  It hit me during that service, that maybe I could use my art to help out this school.

Fast forward a few weeks…I had the pleasure of meeting Natashia Pegram, the principal of Pinewood Elementary.  Natashia is full of joy and love and passion.  She is so proud of her school, the students, the teachers, and the families.  Pinewood has its fair share of obstacles, but I am certain the enthusiasm and faith of their principal makes those obstacles much easier to face.

So, after months of thought and prayer, I am trying to help this sweet school with one of their needs.  Often, they run short on nurse supplies.  Something like a Bandaid can seem so simple, but to a child with a scraped knee it’s really important.

Paper Twist has graciously and generously offered to host a Pop Up sale of my art on Thursday, October 6th.  I will be there from 10am-6pm with a selection of paintings.  Absolutely 100% of the sales will go straight to providing nursing supplies for Pinewood Elementary.  I am hoping to fully stock them with Bandaids, Kleenex, Advil, Tylenol, etc. for the entire school year….taking care of playground boo-boos,  runny noses, and everything in between.

Hope to see you there!  Some of the available art is pictured below.  (Additional paintings will be shared next week.)

Can’t make it, but see something you’d like?  Leave a comment and we will work out a pre-sale.  xo

Back to school = back to work…

Well, summer is officially over.  My boys headed back to school Wednesday, and I headed back to painting.  I don’t actually take the entire summer off, I just work at a slower pace.  In fact, I love summer because we LIVE at a slower pace.

Above is a 16×16 delivered to the client yesterday.

Time to get back to that easel.

Fireworks for a 50th anniversary!!!

The couple in the center just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  For this special occassion, their daughter-in-law commissioned a painting of the whole family.  The happy couple spend summers in Blowing Rock, NC.  Fourth of July in the mountains is always enjoyed by the entire family, so we captured those happy memories in the painting.

And if you think about it, shouldn’t everyone have fireworks for their 50th anniversary???
